Élie Bertrand (1713-1797), pastor, geologist and naturalist was one of the contributors of the Encyclopédie by Diderot & d'Alembert. Having left for Poland in 1765 he became close Stanislas II, King of Poland, and was in charge of the department of industry, agriculture and natural science for the following year.

Good copy, with an added portrait of King Stanislas to who the book is dedicated.
