Very rare, Hoover only mentions the inaugural lecture that Gaub gave when he succeeded Boerhaave in the chair of chemistry at the University of Leiden.
"Gaub (1705-1780) studied at Halle, Amsterdam, Harderwyk, and Leiden under Boerhaave. In 1729 he succeeded Boerhaave. Gaub was the author of a number of standard works on pharmaceutical chemistry and materia medica" (Hoover).
