CALMEIL L.F De l’épilepsie étudiée sous le rapport de son siège et de son influence sur la production de l’aliénation mentale.

It was under the chairmanship of Royer-Collard, on 17 June 1824, that Louis-Florentin Calmeil (1798-1895) defended his inaugural thesis on epilepsy.

According to Semelaigne, Calmeil had written on this subject « … une étude si complète qu’il était arrivé à simuler dans la perfection tous les phénomènes de l’attaque… ». According to the same source, Calmeil went so far as to move into the hospital dormitories, day and night, to be as close as possible to the patients.
