First edition.

It contains the account of the transfer of Napoleon's remains from St Helena to mainland France in 1840, written by Emmanuel-Pons-Dieudonné de Las Cases, "nommé page de l'Empereur à la fin des cent jours, alors âgé de de seize ans, [il] suivit à Sainte-Hélène l'illsutre exilé" (foreword).

The plates show Napoleon at the opening of the coffin, the island of Saint Helena and a view of Longwood, Napoleon's tomb, the coffin on board La Belle-Poule, and the plan and section of Napoleon's tomb at Stainte. Helene.

Occasional foxing, otherwise a fine copy.
