But it is above all the presence of Eug&egrave;ne Delacroix that makes this brochure so interesting, an important milestone in the history of the Orientalist movement.<\/p>\n<p>Illustrated with a frontispiece by C&eacute;lestin Nanteuil and 25 lithographed plates, including 3 engravings by Nanteuil after Delacroix &#8211; <em>Rencontre de cavaliers maures <\/em>(refused),&nbsp;<em>Femmes d&#039;Alger<\/em>, and <em>Portrait de Rabelais<\/em> &#8211; and works by Gigoux, Huet, Roqueplan, Ary Scheffer, A. Johannot, Barye, Amaury Duval, Cabat, Ziegler, etc., engraved by Nanteuil or other artists (see the complete list of plates in Vicaire).<\/p>\n<p>In our copy, as in the one described in the Bulletin Morgand, the lithograph <em>Femmes d&#039;Alger<\/em> is in first issue on India Proof paper.<\/p>\n<p>Scattered&nbsp; foxing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4to (290 x 215 mm) litographed frontispiece, 102 pp., 25 lithographed plates.
